The Weekend: Part I

This weekend was probably one of the most interesting and eventful weekends we have had in a long time.

Here let me break it down for you:
Part I:
     Date Night #1: Hunger Games
     Shower Leak

Part II:
     B & B: Walnut Lawn
     Shopping
     Long's Park
     Date Night #2: Dinner

Part III:
    Painting
    Power Washing
    Leak Cleanup

Date Night #1: Hunger Games
So it all started with Friday. Did the usual; drove my commute, went to work and drove home. When the hubby came home from work, we headed out to the Rave theater at the Promenade shops for Date Night #1 to go and finally see the Hunger Games. I won't review it here because I don't want to spoil the movie for anyone yet but I will provide a separate post with a Spoiler review. It needs to be reviewed.

Because the movie started at 7:15 and the hubby wasn't able to get home until 6 with a 20 min ride ahead of us, we didn't get to eat dinner. So we stuffed our faces with movie junk food (we rarely do this): hot dogs, nachos & cheese and of course Reese's Pieces and Twizzlers. Felt like crap afterwards but hey we had to eat!

That was it for Friday.

Shower Leak
Saturday morning arrives and we were up early to prep for our road trip to Lancaster, PA for some outlet shopping, date night #2 and to stay at our first Bed & Breakfast. Why Lancaster, PA you  may ask? It's not all horse & buggies. There are many things Lancaster County has to offer! Not to mention that is originally where the hubby is from so we got to go back to his stomping grounds.

Getting back on track...

Anyway, as usual, MIL takes a shower followed by myself. Before the hubs went to take a shower, he had to go retrieve a clean towel from the basement. That's when he noticed our laundry room rug was wet. He checked where we previously had a leak and noticed it was wet. To see where it came from, the hubs checked out the back of the shower to see if the previous leak got worse but all he can see was that the shower head was pulled from the wall, which caused a little extra water to escape. Maybe that was the cause.
Little back story...What I have never mentioned before was that on Christmas we found our shower leaking.  The shut off valves were sealed behind a wall that the hubby had to break open. This is when hell began. Previous owners, quite frankly, did a horrible job with the shower install which lead to this leak. Lets just say there is duct tape to hold up wood, different types of wood being used and bungee cords to keep pipes in line. I'll let you digest that.
Here are pictures of some of the nonsense:
 The origination of the leak

Opened wall with such goodies as bungee cord
OK, so back to the story. The hubs decided to test this the theory. He made sure the shower head was flush to the wall (as it should be) and had me run to the basement to see if it was still leaking. To my horror, it was leaking alright. It was freakin' raining in our basement both in the laundry room and outside of the laundry room. WTH! The basement carpet was not just soaked but fully saturated. Anything stored under the ceiling, such as the filled hampers in the laundry room and Saya's art table outside the room with her drawing pads and accessories all got soaked. This just didn't make sense. There had to be a burst pipe or something.

So being the "troubleshooter" that he is, the hubs had to see what was going on. He returned to the bathroom. The first place he looked was under the shower and that is where he saw it. Whatever it is that attaches the shower drain to the drain pipe was missing. Nothing was there. No trace of it either. So naturally the water was going to go everywhere since the drain was not attached. Another WTH!

Since our bathroom guy was out of town till Sunday and we were heading out of town, there was nothing to be done on Saturday. We continued our plans until our return on Sunday.

To be continued...

Inspire me!

Us women ALWAYS wish there was something we could tweak about our body and we make numerous goals of which most are never accomplished or even attainable for that matter. I of course, am no stranger to this. I have fitness goals out the wazoo (surprisingly, I guess that is a real word)!

Don't get me wrong, fitness goals are great to have but you need to be slightly realistic when creating them. I say slightly because you do have to have some that are a little outside your comfort zone. That's the point, right? To work hard for them or they will lose their value and you lose interest. See, I have goals...

I have a goal to drop 50... Not dollars but pounds.

I want to wear my wedding & engagement rings, something I haven't done since I was 5 months pregnant with Saya baby.

I want to be free to wear horizontal stripes again.

I don't want my roley poley knees anymore.

I want to see my little baby chin on its own and not with its crappy, no good friends.

I want my skinny feet back.

BUT since I don't have the motivation, all these goals mean NADA. Now, of course this is totally all my fault. I want to work out. I want to eat right. I want. I want. I want. That is all I hear come out of my mouth but it does nothing for me.  (Oh goodness, just saying this makes me think I'll be bringing bad luck on myself... NO Thank you!) Anyway, somehow, some way I need to change the "I want" to "I am". The struggle of my life.

I need to change this...

What I forgot to mention is that I have all the tools in the world to make this "miracle" happen. First off my little brother is a Certified Personal Trainer (Sorry, Mel!). He has given me so many different solutions for exercise routines and dietary changes. I just wished he lived closer so I can hire him as my trainer. He would kick my butt but I would LOVE it! Also, we have an in-home gym with DVDs also out the wazoo from Zumba, to The Firm, to P90x and even 30 day Shred. We have dumbbell sets, a heavy bag with boxing gloves and an exercise bike. Crazy, I know! I guess you are thinking what is wrong with me? My answer... No clue! I do know that I seem to also have every excuse in the world too! Ha!

So what did you use to help motivate you to lose weight or reach your fitness goals? Do you have any advice for this poor soul?

Inspire me! :)

Things I Love: Beauty Buys

I am FAR from being a beauty consultant because I pretty much have no particular style. I really have my own style...some things are great and some things could be considered hideous. That's really how I roll and have been since I was young(er).

Having said that, there are some things out there in the world that I love or recently have fallen in love with and wanted to share them with you. Today...it is all about beauty, beauty products that is!

What I picked to show you today were a few things that I like a whole lot, so much so, that they really have had no competition for me. It doesn't mean there isn't a better product, I just love them enough not to try another. Works for me!

1. Neutrogena naturals fresh cleansing + makeup remover | 2. YES to Blueberries Age Refresh pre-moistened facial towelettes | 3. Layers by Scentsy Hand Lotion in Luna | 4. Maybelline Great Lash in Lots of Lashes | 5. NARS in Orgasm | 6. Aveeno Daily Moisturizing Lotion

What are some of your favorite beauty buys? Do share!
