My Beauty Secrets...Shhhh

OK...So maybe they aren't secrets at all but I wanted to share a few things that I have been doing or using to prepare for the BIG day this Saturday.

Let's start from the feet up...

Pampering your feet is extremely important for a wedding. Not only do you want your little toesies to look beautifully polished for pictures (if you are wearing open toe shoes), you'll also will be constantly standing and most likely wearing heels, which can be quite painful after so long. Not to mention some shoes rough up your feet a bit making them dry and cracked.

So THANKS to my FSIL for introducing me to Dr. Scholl's For Her - Pumice Foot Scrub. I use it every morning in the shower. It makes my feet incredibly soft throughout the entire day. It not only moisturizes but it exfoliates and revitalizes your feet. Oh and it smells of yummy peppermint! Best thing of all? It is ~ $5!

For the BIG day, I am planning on wearing foot padding for the balls of my feet. For my Bachelorette party, I tried using Foot Petals (w/ a cute zebra print). They worked beautifully but only for 10 minutes. After that my feet were in so much pain! OUCH!! So for the wedding, I am going to try Dr. Scholl's comfort gel shoe inserts but for the balls of the foot. Hopefully I will have more success with this set.

For the body, there was no way I was going to fake-bake. That is just not me so I tried an alternative...Jergen's Natural Glow Daily Moisturizer. The results? Not quite sure. I have been using it for almost a month now and I think I see a difference but I can never tell. I will however, continue to use this lotion from now and until the wedding.

My face has been a bit tricky. When I am on the pill, I have nearly ZERO breakouts but when I am off I can breakout. So I have been using Proactiv for some time now to minimize the breakouts. This has worked beautifully. It is my number 1 regimen for acne prone skin. All other brands I have tried have severly dried out my face. During my makeup trial, the makeup artist said that I needed to exfoliate. Her suggestion? St. Ives Apricot scrub. This is another amazing but inexpensive product. I use it 3 - 4 times a week (usually as my night scrub). I have noticed how incredibly smooth my face now is and less dry.

As mentioned in previous posts, I have fine, thin, frizzy, curly hair so I watch how I treat it before an event. Thus, I decided to get my hair trimmed this past Friday so it is "fresh" for the wedding. From then until the wedding there will be no heating elements near my locks, just the styling products. This will help me best since my hair never acts the same twice, no matter who is touching my hair. Not to mentioned, it will be brutalized with all the teasing, the hairspray and bobbypins needed for my style. The trial consisted of 48 pins. That was a lot of fun getting those out. Anywho, pics to come soon of the trial and of the PWC (to occur day after wedding!).

So what are your favorite beauty products? Any suggestions for other brides to be?

  2. I'm using the Jergens too. If it doesn't work by tomorrow. I'm heading to the beach to bake for a while.
